Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find the right ring size?

The most accurate way to find your ring size is to have your finger professionally measured in our store. Ring size can vary depending on the width and style of the ring, so a measurement from another ring is not always exact. If you’re buying a ring as a gift, you can bring us a ring they already wear and we can help estimate the correct size.

What happens if I order the wrong ring size?

Most rings can be resized by our goldsmiths. Visit us in store and we can measure your finger and advise on the correct size. Some designs, particularly stone set bands and more complex settings, have limitations on how much they can be altered. If the ring cannot be resized, we can make or order it for you in the correct size.

Can I customise one of your rings?

Yes. Many of our rings can be customised to suit you, from changing the metal or gemstone to adapting elements of the design. For something entirely individual, we also design and handcraft bespoke rings in our goldsmiths’ workshop. Contact us or book an appointment to discuss your ideas.

Can I have a ring engraved?

Yes. Many of our rings can be personalised with initials, names, dates or a short message. The space available for engraving depends on the design and width of the ring. Contact us before ordering and we can advise on the options available for your chosen piece.

What metals are your rings available in?

Our collection includes rings in 9ct, 14ct and 18ct yellow, white and rose gold, as well as platinum, sterling silver and selected alternative metals. The metal used is listed on each product page. For bespoke rings, we can also advise on the most suitable metal for your chosen design.

Can you make a new ring using my existing jewellery?

Yes. Our remodelling service allows us to transform existing jewellery into a new piece. Depending on the jewellery, we may be able to reuse your gold, diamonds or gemstones in the new design. Our goldsmiths will assess your pieces first and advise on what can be safely reused.

How should I clean and care for my ring?

The best way to care for your ring depends on its metal and gemstones. For general cleaning, use warm water, mild soap and a soft brush, and avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Pearls, opals, emeralds and certain other gemstones require additional care. We also offer complimentary professional cleaning for rings purchased from Ryan Thomas.

How often should I have my ring setting checked?

We offer complimentary lifetime setting checks on all Ryan Thomas rings, where our team will inspect the claws and settings for signs of wear and ensure your stones remain secure. If you notice a loose stone or damaged setting, stop wearing the ring and bring it to us for inspection.

Can I try on a ring before buying?

Yes of course. Visit our Gladstone Street store in Clonmel to view and try on our collection. If you’re interested in a particular ring, contact us before visiting and we can confirm that it is available in store.
