As an integral part of our business, our services maintain the highest standards of professional care. We understand that everyday wear and tear will inevitably affect your cherished pieces. Our team of experienced Goldsmiths and Watchmakers are dedicated to ensuring your precious jewellery and accessories are preserved for years to come.
Jewellery services
Cultured Pearls Restringing
Pearls are generally strung with closely tied knots between each pearl. This minimises wear as it prevents the pearls from rubbing against one another. It also ensures that all the pearls do not fall off if the strand breaks.
The thread naturally stretches and weakens with time, depending on the size of the pearls and how often they are worn.
An indication if pearls need to be restrung is by assessing the knots between each pearl. If they appear to be stretched or frayed, it's time to restring. Pearls for restringing will be available for collection in 2-3 weeks. A price estimate will be given before the restringing is completed.
Jewellery Cleaning & Polishing
Our professional cleaning service is available for gold and platinum jewellery. It is completed in-house with equipment of the highest standard. Jewellery for cleaning and polishing will be available for collection in 24-36 hours.
Jewellery Repair
This comprehensive service includes repairing broken chains and clasps, restoring worn ring settings and replacing shanks and mounts on gold rings.
All repairs are completed by our experienced team of Goldsmiths. The turnaround time is approximately 3 weeks, depending on the scale and complexity of the task.
Professional Ring Resizing
Ring resizing is provided when appropriate. Our Goldsmith resizes appropriate rings by inserting gold, we do not "stretch rings", as this weakens the setting and can lead to future problems. We believe that only certain rings are suitable for resizing.
For this reason, we regret to inform you that we do not provide a resizing service for new rings which were not purchased from Ryan Thomas Jewellers.
We believe that all Jewellers have a duty of care to their customers to provide the very best after-sales services. Unfortunately we notice that customers are sometimes informed that they can easily have their ring resized elsewhere after purchase. Since many rings should not be resized due to the risk of future damage, we believe that this advice is misleading and inaccurate.
We advise confirming with your Jeweller whether your purchased ring can be provided in the required size.
Rhodium Plating
White gold rings and jewellery are rhodium plated to enhance their colour and shine. Everyday wear will affect the rhodium plating, especially on white gold rings. We recommend rhodium plating white gold rings approximately every 2 years.
The rhodium plating service is performed by our experienced Goldsmith and the turnaround time is approximately 2-3 weeks.
Ring Checking Service
It is advisable to have ring settings checked approximately once a year by an expert Jeweller to ensure all the gemstones are secure. We offer this service as complimentary. Any rings that require attention are evaluated and restored by our Goldsmith. A price estimation will be provided before completing any work.

Jewellery Repurposing
If you have jewellery you no longer wear or if you have been gifted jewellery that doesn't suit your style, we offer a Jewellery Repurposing service. We believe in sustainability and we love repurposing existing jewellery, such as an heirloom, into a new, modern and wearable design.
One piece of jewellery or several pieces can be repurposed into something new. The new custom design can be something you’ve come across before or have in mind, or if you're unsure, we'll show you different styles and ideas from our past and present collections for inspiration.
Once the design of your new custom piece is confirmed, the materials from your own jewellery (the gemstones and the gold) are used by our Goldsmith to handcraft the new design.
Bespoke Jewellery Design
Whether it's a custom made engagement and wedding ring or a piece of jewellery to mark a special occasion, our our Bespoke Jewellery Service allows you to create something that is personal and totally original. All of our bespoke creations are hand designed and handmade; skilled Goldsmiths have been handcrafting our custom pieces since our establishment in 1979.
For your commissioned dream piece, we will assist and advise you in all elements of the creative process, from the initial concept right through to the final creation.
Engraving
Our engraving service is complimentary for all engraveable items purchased in Ryan Thomas Jewellers. We regret to inform you that we do not engrave items purchased elsewhere.
Watch services
Battery Replacement
We have an extensive selection of batteries and watch elements that can be fitted by our in-house team. Watches for battery replacement will be ready for collection the following working day. A replacement battery and reseal service for luxury watch brands such as Cartier, Rolex and Tag Heuer is available.
Strap Replacement
Our collection of watch straps are available in all width sizes and are fitted in store. Strap fitting is complimentary; the price charged is for the replacement strap only.
Movement Replacement/Overhaul Service
Some watches require a sizeable repair, such as replacing the movement or an overhaul. Our team will be able to give you a timeframe and a price estimate once they assess the work that needs to be completed.
Glass Replacement
We offer a glass replacement service for watches, including luxury watch brands. Watches for glass replacement will be available for collection in approximately 2-3 weeks.
