Stack them up, interlock them, match them, mismatch them - gone is the traditional rule book on how to wear rings. Since everyone is rocking diamonds differently these days, it's no surprise that we're often asked questions such as "which finger should I wear this ring on"? "Do you wear other rings on your wedding finger? or "Do you wear multiple rings on one hand, stacking and mixing white and yellow gold"? So if you're looking to switch it up, our ring styling guide is here to help...

The middle finger

This is your longest and most noticeable finger, therefore it's a great placement for statement rings with bold designs that catch the eye, or contemporary stacks of diamond rings. It's also possible to wear classic pieces in a new way, for instance a men's signet ring or a striking cocktail ring with a large centre stone - designs that may appear bulky on a ring finger - this alternative placement gives them a modern look.

The index (pointer) finger

We use our index finger more than any other and in the recent past it was kept free of jewellery. This wasn't always the case, as historically index fingers were reserved for membership rings such as those bearing a family crest. They were also worn by kings and queens, and visitors would bow down and kiss these rings as a sign of respect! We love narrow diamond bands, sometimes stacked, sometimes solo, worn on this finger.

The thumb

The thumb is a great choice for multiple ring wearers. Already styling your middle or wearing a stack on the ring finger? Adding a statement thumb ring brings balance, especially when mixing different materials and textures, for instance, a yellow and white gold two tone band adds symmetry if you're wearing mixed metal jewellery elsewhere.
